Day by Day

  1. Day 1

    Arrive Bucharest

Airport transfer and an evening walk through the Lipscani quarter. Group dinner in a cellar restaurant beneath the old merchant district.

  2. Day 2

    North into the Carpathians

We leave the plain behind and climb the Prahova Valley, stopping at Peleș Castle before continuing to our base in Bran.

  3. Day 3

    Bran Castle by Lamplight

Daytime is for the village and its market. After closing, the castle reopens for us alone — no crowds, no electric light, just the corridors and a guide who grew up beneath them.

  4. Day 4

    Wolf Territory

A full day in the Piatra Craiului range with a wildlife biologist, reading tracks and scat and, if the season cooperates, watching a valley from a hide at dusk.

  5. Day 5

    Shepherd's Transhumance

We walk a stretch of the old migration route with a working shepherd, then eat what the flock provides — fresh telemea, polenta, cold plum brandy.

  6. Day 6

    The Fortified Churches

East to the Saxon lands. Viscri and Biertan in the afternoon, then a candlelit supper laid out inside the fortified church at Biertan after the doors close.

  7. Day 7

    Sighișoara Citadel

The last inhabited medieval citadel in Europe. A morning of guild towers and covered stairs, then a night walk through the upper town when the day visitors have gone.

  8. Day 8

    Salt and Descent

A slow return south, stopping at a working salt mine and a roadside monastery. Final dinner in Brașov's old square.
